Bacardi Wing Eating Competition

If you’re a dawg fan, then you know how crazy downtown Athens gets on home games, especially when your team is undefeated! Saturday, November 5, 2022, was no exception with the Dawgs meeting the Vols between the hedges.

On this particular day, we had the great pleasure of coming out to capture the Bacardi Wing Eating Competition at 1785 Bar and Grill during halftime!

We had an awesome time capturing the event!

Bacardi Creepy Crawlers – Halloween Bar Crawl

If Monster Mash Fashion Bash and Wild Rumpus weren’t enough party for you, Bacardi sponsored the Creepy Crawlers Costume Bar Crawl on Halloween, Monday, October 31, 2022.

Despite the event being on a Monday after such a big weekend, there was still a great turnout of folks who wanted to celebrate Halloween on the actual day. There were some awesome costumes, great drink specials, and with the weather turning to a super foggy night, it proved to be the perfect, spooky Halloween evening.

The crawl included four bars on the route:

Once the crawl had made it’s way to the last destination, the event ended in a costume contest with this couple being the winners! Congrats!

Were you part of the crawl? Couldn’t make it but wanted to see what you missed? Check out the video recap here.

Here are a few pics from the night! View the entire gallery here.

Wild Rumpus 2022 Recap

Were you at the Wild Rumpus? We were!

This year’s rumpus was insane y’all! If you didn’t come out for the festivities, you really missed out. The rumpus is more than just a Halloween parade, it’s a true spectacle and an awesome chance to peep all the creativity on display. All I have to say is… the costumes though! 🤯 But costumes were just part of the killer night! I mean, who can pass up a massive dance party in the streets, with fire and aerial performances? Thank you DJ Mahogany & DJ Reindeer Games for the killer sets and keeping us dancing!

Beats to Get Your Rumpus On

We’re you marching in the parade? Or were you posted on the sidelines watching? Either way, you may not have known all the artists at the music hot spots along the parade route. Check out the artists providing tunes along the rumpus route!

Party on, Athens

Once the parade and main festivities were over, next on the list was the after party of course! Kicking off the after party at Paloma Park was a killer set by Free Ride, followed by The Nightshade Family, which kept tunes coming well into the early morning sets by:

Thank You, Rumpus

All in all, it was an awesome night and a great way to celebrate Halloween! Thank you to Wild Rumpus, Timi and Aubrey Entertainment for having us out to help capture the evening and for the opportunity to provide visuals for the after party! We had a blast and look for to rumpus-ing again next year.

Want to learn more about the Wild Rumpus or keep updated on next year’s rumpus? Visit their website, or connect with them via Instagram and/or Facebook!

Final Bits

It was near impossible to capture the spirit of the night but we certainly tried!

Monster Mash Fashion Bash – In Review

As some of you know, we did this lil’ old thing called the Monster Mash Fashion Bash this past weekend (Friday, October 28, 2022)!

Now, some folks were out of town for the Georgia/Florida game, but we still had an amazing crowd and a killer show! In fact, we are more than grateful that we had the turn out we did considering there were literally a million different events/shows going on at the same time that night. In addition to all the amazing folks that came out and supported this event, we were super stoked to have such great weather – a gamble, at best, when throwing outdoor events in late October in Georgia.

If You Weren’t There…

Well, all I can say is you missed a hell of a show. The designers showed out with killer pieces. The models murdered the runway with all sorts of confidence, sass, and attitude. Our performers brought the fire and created a vibe like none other. And let’s not forget about the off-the-chain crazy costume contest! But, don’t take my word for it. Check out the video recaps from the show to see for yourself on our YouTube Channel! We’ll be updating this post and our website with links to view the four separate walks.

Designer Shout-out

If you are curious about this show’s designers or want to purchase pieces from them, check out the Instagram list below:

Model Shout-out

So, we had a lot of models this show, almost double what we had for the spring show 😮 Most of the models are associated with the University of Georgia via Bold and The Agency modeling associations. However, we also have folks who just want to be part of the event and volunteered! We appreciate everyone that came out and walked in the show!

Artist Shout-outs

The fashion part of the show is always fire, but this show wouldn’t be the unique experience it is without our live performers. We greatly appreciate each and every artist that agrees to be part of this show. So, here is a huge THANK YOU for setting the tone and maintaining the vibe for the evening!

Walk #1 – Niño Brown and Kxng Blanco
Walk #2 – Tyl3r Davis
Walk #3 – Highness
Walk #4 – Murder the Mood

In addition, a very special thank you to our DJ for the evening, DJ Sublime!

Other Important Folks

We wanted to make sure and give a huge shout out to the following folks because we couldn’t have done this without them:

🎃 Paloma Park – Thank you to Hank and your team for all of your support and for continuing to let us use your awesome outdoor space for this event
🎃Farrah Johnson – Thank you for continuing to be our stage manager and making the show flow so smoothly!
🎃 John Harper – Thank you for agreeing to be our audio guy and for helping us run the visuals!
🎃 Trvy – Thank you for joining Trubb in co-emceeing the event!
🎃 Trubb – Last but not least, thank you for partnering with us to make this show what it is today, for all of your hard work, and being lead designer!

Sponsors, Sponsors, Sponsors

This is the first show we had sponsors for the show, and we are so grateful for their support! They are the reason we are able to keep this event free to attend and they are local, so please take a moment to check out all the awesome stuff they have to offer or pay them a visit at their stores! We have a whole post dedicated to our sponsors, so feel free to read more about them here. But for this post, we, again, just want to say thank you for supporting this event!

Thank you, Bacardi!
Thank you, Franny’s Farmacy !

Now Is The Time: Vinyl Release Party

We were super stoked to cover ATHfactor-Liberty Entertainment’s vinyl release party for Now is the Time: Shouting Fire in a Crowed Theater out at Creature Comforts on Friday, October 14, 2022.  While supplies lasted, attendees were able to receive a free vinyl copy of the album and listen to the album’s tracks being performed live by the featured artists, including:

Not everyone on the album was able to perform live this particular evening; however, those who did perform were amazing and it was a really great night to connect with all the artists in-person. Between all the performances, Montu as Emcee, and DJ Chiefrocka on the decks, it was an epic night of hip-hop!

Presented by ATHfactor-Liberty Entertainment with University of Georgia’s Wilson Center for Humanities and Arts, this Athens-centric project showcases eight songs with 12 local hip-hop artists, two local poets, and a handful of local producers. The project’s aim is to present the listener with modern-day protest music to raise awareness around issues plaguing America and to help act as a catalyst for change.

We are super excited to have the Wild Rumpus’ support this year. If you don’t know about the Rumpus, it is Athens’ very own Mardi Gras-style parade that takes place every Halloween. A true community event, everyone is invited to dress in costume and march in the Wild Rumpus Parade.

But that’s not all, the Wild Rumpus is more than just a costume parade, it’s an all out Halloween celebration. The parade is just the beginning. Along the parade route, there are music stations along the parade route where you can jam out to live music. At the end of the parade, you will find yourself party’n the night away in a massive street dance party with live DJ sets, visuals, performances by arial artists and more!

This year is the 14th annual Rumpus, so mark your calendars. Saturday, October 29th at 8pm is when the festivities kick off. Learn more about the event and parade route via their website . Also, connect with them via Facebook  and Instagram  to stay up-to-date on all the cool stuff they have planned for this year!

Bacardi may not be a small local business, but we are very grateful to have their support as our alcohol sponsor!  It wouldn’t be a party unless it’s a Bacardi Party, right? With a wide variety of alcoholic products to choose from, and endless cocktail options, it’s easy to see why Bacardi is so popular!

What you may not know about Bacardi is that it was started back in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó in Santiago de Cuba. However, the treasure of Bacardi didn’t arrive in the US until 1910. From then to now, Bacardi has quickly become an iconic brand, known world wide! Do you enjoy Bacardi? If so, check out the story of their rich history! Also, connect with them via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

Now that you’ve had a chance to learn more about our awesome sponsors, make sure to join us at Paloma Park  on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 9:00pm for an unforgettable show! Want to learn more about the event, check out our Eventbrite show listing!
