Magical Creatures Are Everywhere, All You Have To Do Is Look

Athens is home to all kinds of artisans, not just musicians, and we love any opportunity to work on projects that showcase the amazing talent within our community. This show, the Magical Creature Cabaret, was one such show, shining a spotlight on the wonderful world of burlesque, belly dance, drag, and more!

 
Within Hotel Indigo’s Rialto Room intimate setting, attendees gathered from all walks of life to enjoy a swanky adult night of fun and entertainment. The presenters, Belli Dance Company, did an amazing job of organizing the show and providing everyone with a unique and unforgettable experience with performances by:

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the premiere Cheap Trick cover band, Dirty Trick, took the stage at Live Wire (Athens, GA) and rocked the house! If you like Cheap Trick, then you are going to really enjoy Dirty Trick with their female lead singers kill’n the mic.
 
The quality of cover bands vary greatly, but this cover band has a real commitment to their craft and strive to give their audiences a great experience, complete with great stage presence.

Self-Reflection Album Listening Party

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Ciné Lab, we had the pleasure of presenting P.O. The Priceless One‘s Album Listening Party, celebrating the completion and release of his album, Self-Reflection!

 

What You Missed

Beyond having the opportunity to hear P.O.’s new album, Self-Reflection, be performed lived, we also had some amazing live performances by featured guest artist BVY Trubb, Kxng Blanco x Niño Brown, and KaMahri, with surprise guest appearances by Jazmin Janay, Bless The Playa, and Goodie.
 
Plus, we had DJ Sean Swift in the house on the 1’s and 2’s, and Montu x Budda on the mic as Co-Emcees!
 
Overall, it was just an awesome night of live hip-hop with some killer performances.

On The Scene of “Burn”

When Selah approached us about filming visuals for his track, Burn, we were all in. A literal burn complete with fire spinners and flow artists? Yes, please!
 
With outdoor shoots, you never know what you’ll run into. But, as chance would have it, we had the most amazing night anyone could have asked for with a bright moon, clear skies, and brisk night air.
 
Pulling off a shoot like this successfully can be very difficult, due to the shear amount of people involved, but Selah did an amazing job of organizing the event and bringing so many folks together to take part in the experience. This was more than just a video shoot, it was truly an experience to take part in, and we enjoyed every minute!

On Friday, January 27, 2023, we had the pleasure of presenting Ishues’ Album Listening Party, celebrating his newly released album, Legacy, which was produced by hip-hop legend, Sol Messiah.
 
Legacy comes two years after his last album, The Anti-Rapper, which dropped in 2020, and is filled with bangers!
 

Athens Hip-Hop Royalty on Display

In addition to the Athens Music Walk of Fame artist performing tracks from his newest album live, attendees were blessed with a special guest performance by Cassie Chantel and Tribe!
 
It was an awesome night of music and mingling in the intimate setting that only the Ciné Lab could provide.
 

What You Missed

It was a magical night and we were grateful to all that showed up to support Ishues! Fort Knox kept the energy flowing as our host, and DJ JiiG was holding things down on the decks.
 
Beyond music, we had Franny’s Farmacy and Urban Greenhouse in the house with all their goodies on display for attendees to browse, learn about, and purchase. Folks also had an opportunity to grab a snap with the artist himself in front of our photo wall, and to snag some signed artist merch!

We love any opportunity to work live shows, and this was no exception.
 
Selah Samarah asked us to come out and capture some content from his performance during the New Faces show at Hendershot’s on January 25, 2023.
 
Selah shared the bill with two other acts, Jack Hamill and Prodical. All-in-all it was a really great night for live music in an intimate setting.

It is always a pleasure to work with Niño Brown on his latest and greatest creation. So, when he reached out and asked us to work with him on some visuals for his new track, Dizzy ft. Quezzy Poet, how could we resist?
 

Behind-the-Scenes of Dizzy

We never know where our filming will take us, but on this occasion, we were grateful to be shooting at Japanski Recording Studio. While we’ve heard of Japanski before, we’ve never had an opportunity to meet the illustrious Matt Tamisin in-person. Not only was Matt so gracious in allowing us to film in his studio, he also appears in the video!
 
It was such a fun project to work on, and it’s always a pleasure working with Quezzy Poet, Sala, and Sly.
 
Dizzy dropped on Friday, January 27th, and was premiered by the Flagpole. Check out the Flagpole article here.

We love Little 5 Points and were lucky enough to have an opportunity to film Current Rage at the very eclectic Star Bar on Friday, January 6, 2023!
 

Highriders Release Party

In addition to having another chance to hear Current Rage live, we had the treat of watching The Highriders perform!
 
This show was to celebrate the release of their new album, Scalawag the Monkey, and it was a banger! If you ever get a chance to catch one of their shows, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
